So far we've established that the MC starts the game holed up in his apartment with his girlfriend. Some ideas I've seen thrown around:
-The two were about to break up before everything went to hell
-She's clingy/jealous
-Yandere?
Anyway, let's flesh her out a bit.
EDIT: We've name her Sara, but we still haven't developed much of her character. Some new tidbits:
-A baseball player
-Goes yandere in some paths, stays sane in others
-Develops a strong mutual hatred for Maya
What else?

Perhaps we should flesh out why the MC was going to break up with her more and let that define the character. I personally think her being clingy/yandere would add an interesting twist to the story.

I don't really see a problem with the reason just being a mutual "we've grown distant" feeling.
That way their relationship doesn't get in the way of another girls route and is easily rekindled for GF's route.

Only later on would her jealous side come out -- once she feels like she's losing you, she suddenly gets more clingy. |

For the girlfriend, if you continue to treat her well even while working on another girl's path, it could cause her to snap. For the MILF, if she senses that you're in danger, or if you try to pull away after getting onto her path. |

hey, why not make the reason of brake-up that the MC cheated on her, tho, that would be reveled later. Also this would make her hateful but obsessed with the MC; even more when he's closer to another girl... to the point that if she doesn't die (or being killed) then most likely you'll be killed by her.
Also, the MC should be regretful of doing it but admitting he didn't feel anything to her by then.

We've decided that her name will be Sara. Obviously feel free to post qualms with this, but I think we can safely roll with it for now.

Okay, so it seems a consensus has been reached that Sara will be a former baseball player who is very deredere with MC to the point of being clingy. She also has a nasty Yandere side that comes out when something happens to trigger it.

All right, so we also seem to have reached a consensus that she will be yandere in 2 routes, die an early death in 2 routes, be the heroine in her own, and be relatively normal in Bro route.

This is how I see the girlfriend flow chart:
1. Introduction - she stays at apartment, and after you find another girl and her faction, you bring your girlfriend along, which brings conflict between the girls.
Doing her or bro route should leave her being dere and normal, then again it may be the most dangerous since there are no professionals helping you.
2. Faction arc - here this is where you start to choose between your girlfriend or the new girl. I agree with her being yandere with some, dead with others. Basically your conflict will determine if you proceed with the new girl, end it here, or die. She should be ditched around here by choosing who you want to leave with.
Hard to explain, maybe I'll draw up an example flow chart.
