I agree with those that suggest that the location should remain undisclosed but with the addition of giving the player a reference, such as a name of a state or province.
Personally I embrace the idea of setting it in a large city set in a country like Japan, US, or London. This would add factors such a high population density, minimal fortifiable positions, and tall buildings that offer great vantage points to give the game a sense of "reality".
While many have argued that the availability of guns in countries like the US could render a weapons issue moot, the original idea called for a large number of dead ends. Playing on that idea one could a scenario where the player reached a dead end while trying to break into an abandoned gun store because, "You drew to much attention to yourself and were killed by the horde."

Personally, I favour a Western City. Most major ones (New York, London, Los Angeles etc etc) tend to be such a mixing pot of cultures that meeting numerous different nationalities and personalities is unsurprising. It allows us to mix things up with regards to names and physical appearances more readily than a Japanese city might.

I honestly think that Toronto might make a possible candidate, being one of the largest cities in North America, a large population, a massive size, the CN Tower for a potential plot point, mixed culture and it would be somewhat unique since off the top of my head, I can't think of very many non-Canadian stories that are set in Canada.

I'd prefer a Japanese setting. Mostly for the honorifics, I'm no weeaboo but the honorifics help portray relationships between characters.

I'd prefer a Japanese setting. Mostly for the honorifics, I'm no weeaboo but the honorifics help portray relationships between characters. while I think that is a good point, and us being weeaboos we already called the girls by chan or san or MC as D-kun, with zombies attacking everyone, I don't think honorifics will matter as much. I believe the mutual agreement is just to have MC live in a big city, and the name is best not mention so players can put MC in their own city or something?

I kind of agree with the holy honorifics thing.
A lot of anime that take place in western areas such use them. I mean, we could use words like honey or darling, but they just sound really awkward. But I am pretty much impartial to the whole idea of whether it takes place in Japan or the West.
If we simply look at KS and see what about it taking place in Japan was flawed, we could use that information to make it work for us.

I keep seeing an apartment, maybe 3 to 5 floor high, I think it fits with our MC being a college student, plus if we end up doing how i pictured our intro, this could be a set up for meeting the other girls, that and apartment gives more security knowing that you're high above the zombies, and you can loot the other rooms. I assume that's how we meet the neet, that or it was the chat board.

how about MC runs into policeman, kill him and takes his gun then present him with a 2 choice, give girlfriend the gun or not
i mean if you rob a gun store and get unlimited ammo, its not a horror game then, its a freaking action game, like resident evil4 or 5

>killing a cop I don't think he would, or even could. That would mean our MC has already lost his humanity, we can make him do that later down the road. For guns, I don't like it, but it seems like the only way to win against zombies with the touch of death, so make them high demand items.
