I say we go for the standard techno / classical hybrid for the VN's music. If we can't make our own, we can go open source. I'm a fan of www.jamendo.com/en/ for finding music that can be used for open projects like this

I feel like we should try our hand at making original music first. Using pre-done stuff isn't a bad idea, but should be used minimally if possible.

Acoustica Mixcraft is a wonderful program. Can use loads of virtual instrument tracks. I'd recommend it if you don't have it already.
